Le projet Play/Urban 3D est un espace public numérique online intimement connecté au projet Play/Urban.
The Play/Urban 3D project is an online digital public space intimately connected to Play/Urban project.
Sur la base des plans Google earth de Strasbourg et de johannesbourg -et potentiellement d’autres villes-, se construit une structure urbaine [concrète] [utopique] [variable] ou [générative], à l’intérieur de laquelle les participants-avatars peuvent jouer une partition libre, ou bien subir des règles territoriales évolutives. Qui sait.

Le projet est un espace à construire collectivement, de manière transversale et à distance. Un groupe d’étudiants, d’enseignants et d’artistes de plusieurs villes seront amenés à réfléchir au statut, aux fonctionnalités et à l’organisation politique de cet espace à inventer.
Selon les premières pistes évoquées : cet espace et ses composants seraient difficiles à définir, les bâtiments ressembleraient aux avatars et inversement ? Les textures téléchargées par les participants et les textes publiés dans l’espace seraient source de rugosité dans une structure de base cubique (mais déformable) ? Des connexions sur la base de données du site web Play/urban permettraient de hacker son contenu pour en faire autre chose ? Cet espace virtuel deviendrait une scène concrète pour des performances hors-sol ?
Des réponses se construiront d’ici septembre 2012 sur le réseau, et en diffusion dans l’espace public à Johannesburg…

The Play/Urban 3D project is an online digital public space intimately connected to Play/Urban project.
Based on Google earth maps of Strasbourg and johannesburg -and possibly other cities- is build one [concrete] [utopian] [variable] or [generative] urban structure, in which avatars can play a free partition, or undergo evolutionary territorial rules. Who knows.
The aim of the project is to build a space collectively, in a transversal and remote way. A group of students, teachers and artists from many cities will be encouraged to reflect the status, functions and organization of political space to invent.
According to preliminary ideas : this space and its components would be difficult to define, the buildings would look like the avatars and vice versa ? The textures downloaded by participants and texts published in the space would be a source of roughness in a cubic base structure (but deformable) ? Connections on the database of the Play/urban.org website would hack your informational content to create a space from it ? This virtual space would become a concrete stage for hybrid performances ?
